Paddle the LA River is the premier kayaking experience in LA. Our guides will tour you down one of the most natural soft-bottom areas surrounded by native habitat along the LA River in the Sepulveda Basin.

The Paddle the LA River program represents the COLLECTIVE EFFORTS of several environmental organizations uniting to enhance public perception about the Los Angeles River.  By paddling this scenic stretch, people experience first-hand that our urban River is part of an ecosystem that is both beautiful and significant to Los Angeles’ past and future.

Our river guides have received State Fire Marshal River and Flood Rescue training. All kayak program leaders are qualified on this class of water.  They are also certified in American Heart Association basic first aid and CPR. In addition, the guides have worked with other agencies on specific flood management protocols. Guides will have access to satellite communications at all times and is aware of key rescue points, if need be, throughout the route.


The tour is 1.5 miles and will take approximately 1 and 1/2 hours round trip.

Trips will be suspended in the event of rain

The fee per participant is $50.00 plus a $3.74 handling fee. This covers the rental of the boats, safety equipment, labor, administration, equipment transport, and insurance.
